Say Hello to Advocato, Matic’s Clinician Advocate!

  • AI Agents in Healthcare
  • Clinical Workflows

Matic is no stranger to crafting solutions for healthcare’s toughest problems, but the team also brings that ingenuity to bear on workflows internally. A team of internal agents is hard at work every day, helping Maticians across Marketing, Engineering, Product, and Sales magnify their impact. Today, the spotlight belongs to… Advocato!

Advocato is a persistent, digital clinician advocate. He sources his feedback from real experiences gathered from providers working on the frontline of care day-in and day-out: clinic shadowing from Fort Worth to Lufkin, product feedback sessions, and recorded physician walkthroughs. These are the doctors who use our tools to help real patients, and they have opinions on what works.

Take the patient inbox. When our interns set out to help physicians get through their Athena inboxes faster, they started by asking Advocato what clinicians would actually trust. A Nacogdoches PCP estimated half of a 188-item results queue was normal and would happily let those auto-file, but still wanted to personally sign off on anything reaching a patient. A Frisco MA recalled a 72-year-old whose call about a head injury and blurred vision landed in the inbox as an appointment request: “That phone call should have been routed to the ER.”

The lesson: speed only matters when urgent issues don’t slip through the cracks and physicians stay in the loop. And when interns asked questions beyond what they had learned through shadowing, Advocato was upfront about what it didn’t know rather than guessing.

That’s the role he plays. When one of our Product designers is in the early prototyping stage, Advocato chimes in with pain points clinicians actually face in that space, and acts as an initial soundboard before the experience is put in front of practitioners. When we’re building out the flow, he weighs in with what providers have seen before, what they liked, and what they wanted to see less of.

All of this is in service of our products reflecting the clinician experience, even pre-deployment.
